baby fell from bed onto hardwood floor, what now?

Happened to me too. My 5 month old DD rolled right off the bed onto a hardwood floor. I will never forget that thud. Pedi said to just watch out. DD is now 5 and doing fine. I had asked around when it happened to me, and 3 of the 4 moms I spoke to had something similar happen.

OP, yet another mother here who understands! I cried all day when my baby fell off the bed, and when I finally confided in someone I found out that more people than not have an incident like this.

Sounds like the baby is fine, and now you are in a position to comfort another sobbing mother someday when she drops her baby!

Thank goodness everyone is OK, and don't beat yourself up.

+1 What is it about the second child? Except I heard the thud thud thud thud thud as he fell down the steps. I cried more than he did.

Happens all the time. Don't worry.

It's a good sign that you are worried -- means you love your kid and want to make sure to do your best to avoid these things in the future. All you can do is learn from it and move on.

As others have said, these things happen. My LO bumped his head yesterday, and I felt the same way. He didn't fall, and it really wasn't my fault, but I still felt awful. A few days beforehand, he broke a huge mirror that could have killed him. It takes a while to get used to the fact that they are getting more mobile and capable. Take this as your warning, and be more careful in the future. That's what I'm doing. But don't beat yourself up, and don't let DH beat you up either.

I still just feel horrible thouhg, mainly because I knew better and was being vain and looking in the mirror and now my baby got hurt because of it. And my DH is giving me a really hard time about it because he has warned me about this before, and he's right. UGH. I just hope everything will be ok in the morning.

My LO just fell off the bed for the second time, and I swear I thought she would die. I was beating myself up so badly, shaking and crying while trying to check her over carefully. She was just fine, but the hardest part is when my husband started giving me a hard time over it. Seriously, if they were in our shoes, we would be nice and try to comfort them, you know? Ugh. God give us strength!

Mine fell off the bed at 5 months and again the other day at 2.5 years old. The first time I was so sure he was fine that I just went to work. I called the ped while walking to work. and the ped recommended we bring him in just in case. He was totally fine. At 2.5, it wasn't a big deal because he put his feed first. Still, I got a scare. That thump sounds is terrible.
