Did your child have any reaction to Gardasil?

Anonymous
DD had all three at age 11 -- no problems at all. Ped said that they are going to start lowering the age for both boys and girls.

My cousin got the shots as a late teen. After the final shot, she fainted while still at the office. Had mild concussion from the fall.

Please respond only if your child has actually received the vaccine, not if you plan to have them vaccinated in the future.

Yes. Fluish enough to miss school after the second round. We are scheduling the third to accommodate that. We lost a (male) friend to HPV related cancer, so it is worth it.

Did ped say why?

A little arm soreness, but nothing significant. DD was 11-ish.

There's a name for that kind of reaction to shots. She needs to take it seriously and always get shots sitting/lying down for now on, and not get up for a bit thereafter. Sorry I don't recall the name of the syndrome.

Our pediatrician has lowered the age for her patients to 9. My boys had it at 9 and 11. No side effects.

Syncope

"Syncope" just means "fainting."

My husband faints during shots and blood draws. Life insurance exams and flu shots are a bitch.

I got it maybe 8 years ago. I remember it really stung and my arm was sore for a couple days. No other problems.

Doesn't it wear off 5-8 years after given?
Seems best to wait until they start to date to get maximum benifit.

Umm. How do you know? I seriously doubt all fainting is related to needles. Did they faint last winter with the flu shot?
