what should a pre-k child's reading level be?

Anonymous
Pre-K parent here. In our class of about 14 and all the kids know their basic letter sounds and can easily answer questions like: What words start with the letter D? But as far as knowing more than a couple three letter words and such I don't think anyone (including my own DC) knows this and I volunteer some times so I have a good sense of everyone's level. Your child would be considered pretty advanced in our class!

Just keep reading and let it happen when it will. Many in this are think it's a race, but don't let them fool you. In all of my college applications and job interviews, I have never once been asked at what age I started reading

THIS.

And keep reading to your kid.
