s/o - What does it mean when someone says "God is on my side"

Or, I also take it to mean that the person has faith that God is looking out for them. "I have a lot on my plate, but I know God is on my side so it'll all be okay." It's a different means of expressing faith. My grandma used to say that God doesn't give you more than you can handle. If he's "on your side", you can handle whatever life brings you.

Just my opinion.

This.

+2. I can't believe how many people take this as an expression of arrogance. It is an expression of faith - that no matter what curve balls life throws at you, God will carry you through.

Religion is the opiate of the masses.

It means that you have to pay the Cook county tax bill on an orphanage run by Sister Mary Stigmata and God spoke to you while attending services run by James Brown telling you to put the band back together.

Perhaps.

Do you have a rational tautology that explains justice without an authority that transcends individual or collective humans?

Do you have a foundation for human rights without natural law?

Do you think common sense implies a Creator for creation?

When you watch football and scream "that's not fair!" at a blown call, do you stop and think where the idea of "fairness" comes from?

"Laff" is a common way of respelling "laugh." Haven't you ever heard of the Laff-A-Lympics? Or are you a foreign?

You don't think being a follower of God is a "deep thing" ?

Realize that it makes you sound smug and sanctimonious. Maybe you do need to examine it a little more.
. I think you think too much and don't have enough to do if you think people are trying to be smug when they say this.

It's sad that in this day and age "thinking too much" is considered a deficit.
