Really. Would you feel comfortable posting your zip code? I live in 20015, so within range of AU sitters, and $20 for one kid is unheard of. |
| I also live in AU sitter range and $20 for one kid is absolutely unheard of. We pay $12 and have never had trouble finding a sitter. |
You are silly stupid! |
Not you, her. |
| What is the site for the AU board? |
| I went to AU in the early 90s and was paid $15.00 per hour then, by multiple families. I would guess there are plenty of families willing to pay $20.00 now. |

Is 10 enough for a high school senior. Baby is 15mos.
Doesn't change if its a mommie helper thing? |
No, let's me realistic. I don't give a shit where the person warming my couch for a few hours while my kid sleeps matriculated. |
| I don't care where my sitter matriculated, but I expect them to be something more than a "person warming my couch while my kid sleeps." My son doesn't go to bed until 9 or 9:30, so he is going to be spending some time with the sitter, and I expect the sitter to make a reasonable effort to interact with him and show him an ok time. I'm not expecting a circus act, but if he wants to play some board games, action figure games, etc., I expect the sitter to do that with him. |
| Offer the rate YOU feel comfortable paying. Someone will respond. |
| I'm one of those delusional nannies who makes $20/hr+, but I'm also not in your area. Agree with PP - offer the rate you're comfortable with and someone will respond. |
That's ridiculous. Acing your SATs does not make you a better babysitter. Most of these under-educated nannies have 10x the childcare experience compared to your typical AU or Georgetown student. I know DCUM posters love to think their degree(s) make them a better caregiver, but get real. |
My HS senior charged $12 a couple of years ago. |
| $10 an hour and we give tips. At holiday time and her birthday we give gift cards. |

I am an educated (UVA) nanny here in DC. I make $20/hr for any weekend/weeknight jobs.
Please do not compare me to the other nannies you have met! Op, pay what you feel is right. I am sure you will find someone! |
