Haycock OR Falls Church City schools - which would u choose?

There's a real push on-going right now at Haycock to blow up the current renovation plans & start the process over to design a renovated school that can handle the capacity concerns. That of course pushes back the clock to get anything completed.

haycock is great if you don't mind 30-40 students per teacher. Falls chuch city is great but the cost of their taxes don't make up the slight bump in quality. I would check out other schools in 22043, 22182 and mclean which have great school ratings of 9 or higher.

Last year classes at Haycock were very high 20's and some 30s. 40 is hyperbole. This year they added teachers and classes to reduce overall class sizes but the building didn't get any bigger. Half the school doesn't go to school in the school but rather trailer, modulars or what ever you call them.

It is 2012 so it should be given but in FCC it isn't. Since it's so small, everything tends to be expensive too. I will also add that AAP was a draw for us. You can find houses in Haycock that border FCC if you want the best of both. Good luck.

I love this - the whole we chose Haycock for it's diversity. HAHAHAHAHA!

I think Haycock and the other WFC schools have more to offer in terms of diversity than the FCC schools.

If you want your kids going to the school with the same small group of kids for 13 years, that's great. It doesn't appeal to us.

how does the education of the trailer students compare to the classroom students?

Exactly the same.
Last year my third grader had only 21 kids in his classroom.

Haycock may not win any awards for diversity...but it is still more diverse than FCC

There is no "bump in quality" at FCC schools - only a bump in scores since they serve such a wealthy population and have the lowest % of FARM students

There are no neighborhoods in 22182 comparable to Pimmit Hills. Take this any way you want.

22182 is a great neighborhood, but I think Pimmit Hills is closer to certain parts of 22180.

Then consolations are in order to 22180.

Aren't 22180 and 22182 zip codes, not neighborhoods?

There are some bizarre stereotypes being thrown around here. Neither Haycock nor FCC win diversity awards; that much is true. But has anyone else bothered to compare the stats? FCC has higher percent reduced/free lunch, higher % black, higher % hispanic (double Haycock's %), lower Asian (a lot lower) and very slightly higher Caucasian. All I did was look at the school websites to figure this out.
