Romney the weathervane was prochoice again last week and prolife again this week

Aside from all the economic/ job/ deficit points... I just cannot support Romney's social policies (abortion, birth control etc...). The guy gives me the honest to goodness creeps. He looks like a scoundrel from a movie about street criminals.

To be fair - it's not entirely clear what Romney's position on social policies are because they change so frequently.

Why can't he pick a side?

- almost 50 million Americans are on food stamps.
- unemployment is over 8%
- the deficit is $16 trillion. Obama added more to it than any other US president.
- 1/3 of our annual budget is borrowed (adding to the deficit).
- 1/4 of Americans live in poverty.

Does any of this concern you?

Corrections:

-- It's 46 million people, not "almost 50 million." More importantly, the increase is due to aggressive efforts by the Obama administration to get people who needed it to participate. Please explain how that's a bad thing -- would you rather have these people go hungry? More importantly, they're only on them an average of 9 months and, that money circulates back into the economy. I realize nuance messes with your talking points, but try to apply a little critical thinking.

-- Unemployment is now below 8%. That is not disputed. More importantly, as a pp has pointed out, we have job growth where when Obama took office, we had job cuts.

-- The deficit is not $16 trillion. If you don't know how to use these terms correctly, don't participate in these conversations. The national debt is $16 trillion. Obama's policies have added about $1 trillion to it -- the other $4 trillion can be attributed to the policies of his predecessor (TARP, the wars). All of this assumes that the deficit or debt are even a problem -- they're not. Explain to me why governments have to have balanced budgets? They're not households or businesses.

-- The proportion of Americans living in poverty is not 25%. It's actually about 15%. More to the point, who do you think will do a better job eradicating poverty? Not Mitt Romney, who views these people as unworthy leeches.

46 million versus "almost 50 million" americans on food stamps - same difference - LOTS OF AMERICANS CANNOT AFFORD FOOD - you are so ignorant - what don't you get? And you think that's great?

unemployment JUST SUPPOSEDLY fell below 8% - the 1st time in almost 4 years. That's still horrible.

WE OWE $16 TRILLION - mostly to China, Japan, England, and a few other countries. And yes, WE OWE it. We borrowed it. It's REAL DEBT. Sorry if you don't get that either.

As for poverty percentages, some calculate it at 25%. Others 15%. Either way, that's really bad - that's averages 1 in 5 Americans in poverty.

NEWSFLASH - Mitt has an entire foundation that gives to the poor. He is a philanthropist. Sorry the mainstream media hid that from you.

^^You've convinced me, PP! Mitt is such a great philanthropist, I am going to vote for him to stick to that job full-time come November! Thanks pp!

PEOPLE, THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A THREAD ABOUT ABORTION! You know, that issue that is supposed to give a woman the right to control her own body? The issue that epitomizes the right of an American citizen to privacy? Could we just have one thread that is devoted to the candidates' positions on abortion?

You may not think it's important, but with approximately 1 in 20 pregnancies ending in abortion, it could actually be relevant to the lives of some readers on this thread.

I believe most economists agree that what brought us out of the Great Depression was wwII
Who knows given the global economic situation what will be the stimulus to turn things around.
Austerity and tax cuts for the wealthy are your solution?
