Where are all the South Asians in NoVa?

The best indian restaurants are in Herndon. So, my guess is Herndon.

Herndon is not a close-in suburb, is it?

East Asians are mostly in Montgomery county. There are a lot of south Asians in Arlington.

Close is relative. It is not far from Fairfax, Chantilly, and Reston.

Obviously it wasn't vague - you knew exactly which part of Asian that Indians are from.

PPs, I watch these chat boards closely, but I seldom post except in re a very few particular private-school, Alexandria City, and college matters. I may not have much of value to add on the many other (often important) issues that people discuss in this forum. I am posting now merely to ask that people please try to be sensitive and aware about the ethnic and racial issues that have been raised in this thread. "South Asian" is a legitimate term, with a legitimate meaning. It means India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, the IAS Sikkim, and the immediately adjacent and associated ethnic and culturally-associated people. It does not mean Indonesia, or Viet-Nam. It does not mean Southern China. Please do think before posting comments and/or inquiries which demean one-sixth of our planet.

Also, if you haven't BTDT, don't lecture us about how children don't see color and we shouldn't worry about these things. You have no, fucking, clue.

(Says the mom whose children have been told by white children -- just as some examples-- "I don't want to hold your hand because you have brown skin," "you can't be any Cinderella, you can only be Pocohontas, and "look, I have Chinese eyes like you, haha (while pulling eyelids back).

While we're on this subject, does anyone know of a West Indian community in Falls Church/Arlington area? Any West Indian at all?

Hey you left out Afghanistan. Wonder if the OP meant to include them.?

OP, you will find a group of South Asian families in the Fairfax part of Falls Church at schools like Haycock and Westgate. I think your housing budget will dictate which is better for you.

My good friends are all spread in Silver Spring and Upper Marlboro, Waldorf and close by parts of Maryland and in D.C. near Howard.

I have no idea what you think is demeaning. If someone wants to know where the Indians are congregating, just ask where the Indians live. Saying "South Asian" is meaningless to a lot of people. I don't see ethnic/racial issues to that. If someone is offended b/c someone else lumped in their kind of south asian with some other kind of south asian, well, that's their problem IMO.
