8 weeks - heartbeat but measuring small

Thanks, everyone. PP, what doctor's office do you see? This is my first visit to this particular office. Just curious.

Was this her first appointment? I measured a week smaller (6 wks) at what I thought was 7 weeks, my first appt, there was a heartbeat. I went back two weeks later and was measuring 8 wks, so the embryo had grown accordingly for 2 weeks and still had a strong heartbeat. My periods have not been regular so I probably just ovulated later. Due date was adjusted and growth has been on track with that date ever since (now 16 wks). This could be the case with your SIL, esp if this was her first doc appointment and she has no other visits to do a growth comparison. Hang in there.

I had a similar experience and was told to expect a miscarriage. The baby did catch up within a few weeks and the pregnancy continued, but later on we discovered a chromosomal problem (a serious one). So please, if you would do something about it, don't skip the CVS or amnio.
