Why can't each player just bring their own snack??

Multiple children involved in multiple sports for the last 5 years, and I have never experienced snack drama similar to what OP is complaining about. Just explain to the coach that your family is not going to participate in snack.

On the teams I coach I told the parents no need to do snack, they all thanked me. Dumbest idea ever to start a snack thing.

I can't believe I'm getting so much flack for this. I hand out CANDY at Halloween because that and costumes are what make Halloween fun. Our eggs ARE from free range chickens who only eat organic food (no corn, no antibiotics, etc.), but we do eat the yellows. After the eggs cool, I peel them before putting them in the fridge, and the kid's fingers aren't any messier than the kid eating orange cheese puffs or Doritos.

Lastly, whatever man. My kid likes healthy foods, and I'm certainly going to take advantage of that by providing them. I've also brought a tomato to games, which she happily eats like an apple.

I think a hardboiled egg would be an awesome snack. They are yum and also the protein keeps my hunger at bay a lot longer than pita chips or a bag of carrots, etc. PP, keep bringing the hardboiled egg. I'd be looking longingly over at it.

Just please bring a tiny saltshaker because I like my egg salted.

PP back. My mom used to put a tiny bit of salt in a plastic baggie for us when she sent us hardboiled eggs to crack, peel, and then eat when we were in school. YUM.

I agree with the OP. Not sure why each kid can't just bring his/her own snack.

I dont get the slack over the hard boiled egg either. My kids love them.

Ive been dealing with kids in sports for many years and Ive never deal with any drama like the OP has described.

So far the most annoying issue was last season when one parent started a trend of bringing dunkin donuts as the snack. Then of course the kids were begging and turning their noses up when another parent brought orange slices.

This season the coach requested orange slices only. Thank goodness!

I'm hungry for a hard boiled egg now! I might go home and make one. I liked them for a snack as a kid (although I didn't do sports where we got snacks, but I ate them after school at home)

How many soccer games have you been to? Those kids are not obese. They aren't even chubby.

The childhood obesity argument is not relevant to this discussion.

I wish we could skip the whole snack thing as well. I'd rather just bring something for my kid if I felt he needed anything.

I don't know why each and every gathering, sports-related or otherwise, calls for a snack to begin with.

Crazy.

The mom made a strong statement at the first practice that unless we wanted to see ambulances coming no nuts could be served to anyone at the game including spectators. Not sure how she planned to notify the other team of that. She had a list of approved foods. That was the end of the snack after the game. I know she was doing what she needed to for her child. I am not sure how her child visits a grocery store or a mall..

You are an ass.
