But seriously, why do you parents spend so much time agonizing and analyzing this? It's like a silly game of one upmanship and who's kid is smarter out there?

I understand some say 'well my kids smart but underperforming and i can intervene in some way'. But Jesus, all these posts are truly helicopter parenting to the max. I'd love someone to do a future study to see if your kids got into better colleges as a result of your obsession.

Yeah, God forbid you help your child do better if he is under performing in school. They should ban SAT prep courses too as that contributes to those fortunate enought to afford them to have an unfair advantage as well.

You miss my point - these posts are to the point of obsession. Neurotic. Go find a room. In fact, Jeff should create a separate forum and not muddy up the VA public school forum.

I called the office of testing and they asked me to contact the school. The school has not provided any information.

Check with the AART at your school. The AART should have specifics to share with you.

Since you know her so well, then I suggest you inform the school principal that the AART at your school is an idiot. And, while you are at it, also let the cluster superintendent know.

Mercer Publishing has released a new practice test for the FxAT exam at www.mercerpublishing.com/fxat.html

Cheaters will cheat

Maybe the test was adjusted to give more weight to criteria that the selection committee has been informally prioritizing all along.

Maybe preparing for the test ("prepping") has nothing to do with the test being adjusted to Fairfax's standards.

It's not exactly "cheating" to give your child practice in the types of problems they will see on the test. And why the need to hate on people who practice and get in? If those kids really were unqualified, they would be failing AAP and/or sent back to the gen. ed. school. If kids can get in and they can handle it, what's the difference to you? (my kid's not in AAP)

Cheaters gonna cheat, and gonna feel good about it through elaborate justifications

I suppose giving my kids a good night's rest and a well balanced breakfast the day of is cheating too!

Oh no. No! This is not right! Think of all the poor children! Something has to be done about this...

It is time activate the FCPS special SWAT team to go raid Mercer Publishing and someone needs to do a reverse-IP look up of the original poster of the Mercer link so that he or she can be turned over to the authorities.

Cheating is when you violate the "rules" to gain an advantage. Prepping for a test that was signed to have no prepping violates the rules. Hence cheating.
