Is Clint Eastwood drunk?

Well I'm not optimistic about your prospects for another big GOP speech, if that's what you mean.

It was odd!

The teleprompter failed and his speech never showed up so he had to wing it. I agree it was painful to watch, but most of us couldn't deliver a great speech on the fly either.

... come on, dude. He clearly intended to ad-lib matters all along (hence the stunt with the chair) and apparently, CNN is reporting that Eastwood discarded the scripted remarks given to him.

I would like it if you could spell coherent

Big Liberal Dem here. Just watched the video. I didn't think it was that bad. His old-person rambliness came across to me as kind of folksy, kinda down-home. He wasn't incoherent.

I don't agree with the substance of his remarks but I thought the speech was amusing.

BLD again, what I find most amusing (as a PP mentined) is Eastwood had seven kids with five women, and his girlfriend Sandra Locke reportedly had TWO abortions in her time with him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clint_Eastwood#Relationships

hypocrite

I have repeatedly been told on this site that a Republican can speak without a TelePrompTer. And an actor with sixty years of acting does not need his lines fed to him.

But let the excuse making begin!

Oh he's not a hypocrite. He is very vocal about abortion and gay marriage. He considers himself a libertarian fwiw and the Republicans are probably lucky that he didn't open up on those subjects while onstage.

He is still a hypocrite if he is stumping for a party and a VP candidate at least who would love to outlaw the very same abortions of convenience he indulged in. Oh sure, he gets HIS abortions when he wanted them. Everybody else, who gives a f*ck.

Sandra Locke claims that he pressured her to have the abortions. In any case, he should have wrapped that sh*t up after abortion #1. The abortions are HIS responsibility as much as hers.
