Former Gov. Mark Sanford and his Mistress

I prefer the term little third, especially when I am spending all the bribes I collected on them.

Concubine is a good term

He was determined that it would implode. He purposefully took the word "faithful" out of their wedding vows. He's just a self centered asshole.

Whatever may have happened during the implosion process, his subsequent behavior makes his self-centered assholery pretty obvious.

If they stay together for life... He did the right thing.

Of course, there's the "little matter" of their relationship's effect on his boys. . . oh, well!

He still used taxpayer money to carry on his affair. That pisses me off! That alone should have kept him out of office.

He provided a lifestyle less than 1% of the population has access to. He has a life too. Reality needs to be dealt with, not swept under the rug. If he didn't provide, that would be different. You can't help who you fall in love with.

Actually, responsible parents CAN control their behaviors. Life isn't supposed to be a guarantee of happiness, "no matter who gets hurt." Let's put aside discussion of his wife a minute . . . he left his boys over Father's Day weekend to be with his mistress, and they had no idea where he was. He also created a situation in which one of his boys met his mistress for the first time on a public stage on election night. Quite the self-centered guy! Oops, should I say "Dad?!"

Money seems all-important to you. For many parents, there's much more to parenting.
