Do you consider pizza and chinese food to be inexpensive?

Yes to us it is inexpensive but we order pizza from a place that it is $25 a pizza. When we need to order two bc we have 3 kids $50 plus tax and tip isn't that cheap.

On a side note, do people really buy ramen noodles? I honestly have never eaten that junk and no one I know eats it.

Eating out is always expensive (even at McDonalds). But fast food style is cheaper then eating out elsewhere.

I agree with the other posters. If you are comparing it to other take-out food, it can fall into inexpensve dependign on the place. But good of either one is definetly more expensive than making it myself.

It isn't food, so who cares?

Yes people really do buy ramen noodles. Some people have no money, surprise! Were you never in college? I actually just had ramen noodles last week for the first time in 15 years (since college haha) and they were junky and salty and gross but strangely tasty.

Pizza and chines is beyond belief expensive. For our family of 6 pizza is 80+ from Dominoes. Fattening greasy-american style chinese sets us back 60-70 From Mayflower in Tenelytown. delicious though!

You can make an entire tray of baked ziti for under $10 and would easily serve 3 dinners and 2 lunches. Pizza is not cheap, just cheap compared to going out to eat elsewhere.

Well, duh. Of course it's cheaper to make your own food than to get pizza or Chinese food delivered. Does anyone question that? In the spectrum of food that someone else makes to order for me and delivers to my house, they are hard to beat on price.

I think it is expensive, but I also think groceries from the grocery store are expensive, too, so maybe I am just a tight wad.

My husband LOVES ramen noodles when he is sick. Whenever the "man cold" kicks in I am begged to go to the store for ramen AND cup o' soup, green gatorade, saltines, coke, and all drinks have to be served with a straw. And of course then the kids want what daddy is having. . .

What? Does everyone get their own pizza? They're like $12 each.

Ok, so if they are $20 for an XL, you are getting 4 x-large pizzas for 6 people? That's two thirds a pizza per person.

Depends on the pizza. At our local pizza place, a large cheese is $11. But when you add toppings, the cost goes up quite a bit. My Dh likes a lot of toppings, plus he just eats a lot of pizza (so we need to order 2 pizzas, instead of one) and always wants soda to go along with it, etc....so when he's around and we order pizza the total is somewhere over $30.
When it's just me and this kids, we can get away with just ordering one large cheese pizza...and I have the kids drink juice boxes or something else we already have around the house...so the total is only $11.

Groceries are pretty cheap, as farmers are heavily subsidized by the government to keep prices artifically low. Produce and dairy sold at many grocery stores are sold at loss in the hopes that shoppers will grab the high margin processed foods or better yet the prepared foods. I'm not sure if you are a tight wad, but probably unrealistic.
