Any reactions to Headfirst Camps? |
National Presbyterian's summer camp has been a big hit this year. |
+1. |
My DC had a blast at Round House Theatre Camp in SS. Camp staff seemed engaged, energetic, kind. Camp was very well organized, both in terms of the structure of the day and integration of content; as well as in registration, drop off, logistics, and communication with families.
Perfect for a creative kid who likes music, dance, visual arts, and theatre. DC has already asked to go again next year. |
My child is attending the Seaward Acacdemy camp at Langston Golf Course. It is a new start up company that works with DCPS. My son has golf lessons at least 3 times a week. They have taken the kids to the Cheverly Playhouse to see a Michael Jackson tirbute, to the Newsuem, to the Naval Museum and to Gaming Exhibit. Just yesterday they built cars out of water bottles. I can say that this has been a good experience for him and we hope to continue the relationship with this group. |
What a coincedence!! My son goes to Seaward Academy camp too! He is only 7 but he really enjoys Mr. Parker! I like that they are teaching the kids about gardening. I am impressed with their bottle garden! My son told me that the lettuce is finally growing! I think Dr. Jackson and Mr. Parker take time with the kids and they really try to get to know them and their learning styles. I can tell my child is learning alot. My son told me that they learned "If You're Happy and You Know It" in Japanese yesterday. I too recommend Seaward Academy to anyone. |
My DC had a wonderful time at All-Arts, Sciences and Technology Camp last week at George Mason. DC plans to return next summer. (We opted for the residence camp option but they have a day camper option, too.) The camp staff did a great job providing photos, videos and updates online throughout the week. |
My kids will start in 2 weeks. Can you elaborate a bit on your concerns? |
Heartiest has been great fir my 4year old. We are very happy and will be sending her back next year. |
Heartiest???? Might that be Headfirst? |
Nothing major, just some minor annoyances (again from a parent perspective, not a kid's): there was no one around to tell us where to go the first day, and when we found the room the counselor starting complaining that the other person hadn't shown up -- really complaining, as if I were responsible for that, or could make him/her magically appear; on the second day she was very upset that we arrived at 8:45, saying we weren't supposed to come until 8:50, and then each day, when we arrived after 8:50, complained to me about how everyone else was showing up too early, again as if I were to do something about it; and finally another parent and I had to spend almost 30 minutes searching for them one afternoon (at late pickup) when they were not in the room and had left no indication of where they'd gone. No one in the school had any idea, we had cleaning staff and administrators searching everywhere. Again, my son enjoyed it a lot. |
Yes I meant HeadFirst-I was on my Kindle and it was late at night. |
