Totally depends on the scope of work. (I’m a GC that has completed over 200 renovation projects in DC) First important question… do you have an architect or plans? You will not get a building permit without plans. If the scope of Reno is mostly cosmetic, you can easily go to DCRA and pull a permit, same day. It is much easier and less intimidating than what most people suspect. If the job involves plumbing or electric, the tradesman will pull permits for that portion. I suggest taking your plans to DCRA as a first step. Your architect will definitely be able to guide you through permitting and connect you with an expeditor. |
