Would you buy a house with a pool?

Does your pool ever have that distinct pool smell that public pools often have?

I don't have a pool here, but grew up in AZ where everyone has a pool. I never noticed the pool smell at home, but i think that is because you don't need as many chemicals to maintain a home pool. Plus, a lot of folks back home converted to salt water.

I'm the PP with the salt water pool. No pool smell, ever. It's chorine that you smell in public pools, where they put in LOTS of it to kill off the nasty stuff people leave behind!! If anyone is considering putting in a pool, I HIGHLY recommend salt water, in fact most new pools are salt water. And also a heater, which extends our use up to two months. We opened our pool this year in April with the warm weather we've had.

About 20 feet. It is set in concrete in-ground and surrounded with nice landscaping. We do have a separate studio wing in our house with a bathroom and shower, so after being in the pool we send people back in that way so no one drips all over the hardwood floors. The studio has a concrete floor so I don't worry about it.

The pool never smells -- the lavender around it maybe covers up any odors?

We have friends with an indoor pool and it smells of chlorine in that entire wing of their one level home.
