There should be an "Anti Fox" news show

Is this thread serious? There is. It is called MSNBC.

Sure, we watch the Daily Show and make fun of Fox and its viewers.

The anti Fox networks are as follows : MSNBC, CNN, NBC, CBS, and ABC. Let us have one network without liberal bias- you dont have to watch it. Why does it bother the Dems so much? Just turn it off and watch MSNBC

I know, if your target market is hillbillies, you pretty much HAVE to advertise on Fox.

You sound like a snob to the core.

No, I am pretty familiar with hillbillies. Are there other news outlets that you think they watch?

Whatever they watch or don't watch, you still sound like a snob to the core.
why do you think hillbilly is a pejorative term?

Just a couple of definitions for you--
From Wikipedia:
Hillbilly is a term referring to certain people who dwell in rural, mountainous areas of the United States, primarily Appalachia but also the Ozarks. Owing to its strongly stereotypical connotations, the term is frequently considered derogatory, and so is usually offensive to those Americans of Appalachian heritage.

From a free online dictionary:
Noun 1. hillbilly - a disparaging term for an unsophisticated person

OK got it. So do you think hillbillies exist, and if they do, which news outlet do they watch?

I don't use that term and don't like for anyone to be mocked. If you're asking me what news outlet I think a certain group of people watch, you'll have to tell me what group you mean or where they live, etc.

I'm willing to believe that the newscasters on those networks (as opposed to editorialists like Maddow) may have liberal biases that creep into the coverage and are invisible to my liberal eyes. But do you honestly detect an agenda in the purported news shows to match Fox "news"? It might not be so bothersome if not for "Fair and Balanced".

Are they as "out there" with their agendas as Fox? No, far more subtle for the most part, except for MSNBC. In some ways that's almost more insidious since a less sophisitcated viewer may not be as aware that they are being fed a particular position or viewpoint on the news.

Back to the original point. If you want to make an anti-MSNBC show, fine. But I'd like to have a show that takes biased FOX reporting and counters the most blatant misleading, pop-up video style. Dream on....

Yeah, when you're trying to tell the truth and maybe your bias slips in, that tends to be more subtle than being paid to push the Murdock and Ailes agendas!

Fox news has skillfully exploited what can best be described as the Tea Party persona .. Paronoid, racist, lower income, less educated, marginally employed or unemployed whites. The very same group that suffered the most devastating impact of Republicans policies. Due to racial hate, feelings of inadequacy, etc they blindly espouse the Fox Tea Party line even if it's against their own interest

I think it's the opposite. Fox knows there is this segment, and they can make a fortune off of them if they give them EXACTLY what they want, with not a shred of integrity around it. Same for radio shows like Rush. If I wanted, I could get just as big an audience with a show featuring strippers, porn stars, and degenerates talking about subjects with no redeeming value. Oh wait, that's Howard Stern, and he was pulling 20 million listeners before he took hundreds of millions of dollars to go to to satellite radio.

So make your own fortune with my simple 3 step plan:
1. Identify a sizable demographic with an extreme point of view
2. Validate that point of view nonstop, using any means necessary
3. Profit!

For me and many others, "subtle" can be equally destructive. "In your face" with their viewpoints is obvious on FOX, and a person can make the determination to believe, not believe, scoff, etc. In my opinion, news broadcasters (of any political persuasion) who present the news with a subtle slant on a daily basis are like the slow dripping of rain on a rock.

Yes Fox is profitable and is the #1 cable network because of RATINGS. If only "hillbillies" in flyover states watched, it would soon be out of business and probably wouldnt get under the Obama Adminstrations skin so much. same goes for Rush Limbaugh.. Every attempt at commercial left wing radio has tanked financially.. Right or wrong Fox and Rush attract viewers/ listeners... Even the detractors seem to know whats going on with all the shows on Fox.
