| 8:38. Put your hand to the screen. I am giving you a high-five!!!! |
You can sympathize. You can empathize. But, you will never realize unless you live in a person's skin. That is the reality. |
| Oh, could you imagine if Rev. Sharpton was the commencement speaker at Ballou. Then that incident of parents missing their child's graduation would have happened, talking about the usage and hearing of the n-word. A sound-byte indeed. |
| Newsflash, the principal of Dunbar was just recently let go. This is his second time being not reappointed to Dunbar. The rumor for the demise this time was in fact due to the commencement address of Rev. Sharpton, many felt that the principal should have addressed the text of the speech. |
Actually, you can only be racist if you are the people in power economically. No one would care a shit about whites say if they didn't collectively hold so much wealth and economic power re:jobs, etc. And I don't often use any sort of profanity, but I am really tired of these kinds of posts. |
| News flash slavery ended |
| Slavery has ended but it is not gone. We harbor some attitudes that will forever be etched in stone. There might not be outright ownership but there's a sense entitlement. |
| From good authority the principal at Dunbar is staying. Instead of newsflash probably newsflop. |
| Ugh, Reverend Sharpton spoke at my college years ago in the context of a dispute regarding whether there should be an African-American living center. He kept saying how important the issue was to him, and how much time he had spent thinking about the issue, but he kept using the wrong school name, and referencing a different school (even though he was speaking at the school). It defintely did not come across well. |
Speak for yourself on those attitudes forever etched in stone. |
