People don't become alcoholics, bulimics, seriously depressed, etc., for NO reason. Yes, mental illness happens, but there are always warning signs, and if those around you refuse to see them and do anything about it -- finding treatment as a start, well, they are part of the problem.

Her family of origin sounds as screwed up as the Kennedys.

Sad story, but I really feel for her kids. What must they have gone through all those years, and the youngest is only 10. I hope they have trust funds large enough to cover a lifetime of therapy!

Her husband asked her family to intervene. They declined. They must have been in denial. I actually feel sorry for him.
- she "boxed" him with a permanent injury to his tearduct
- she was hiding his daughter's belongings to get her in trouble
- she was threatening suicide in front of the children
- she threw spaghetti plates at him in front of the children
- she swung punches at him in front of the children
- she attacked him with scissors in the bath
- she was caught DUI twice
- the police was called to the house twice (?) times, she was so drunk she was incoherent
- the judge apparently agreed that she was an unfit mother and could not even have visitation without athird party present

Anyone would divorce such a trainwreck.
The man deserves

All of this is from Robert Kennedy's pleadings in the divorce case (which were supposedly sealed). If you want to know how the press panders to the Kennedys, look no further than the articles that quote his divorce pleadings as "fact," with no reference at all to what must have been rebuttal evidence provided by Mary Kennedy. Oh, yes, they quote the housekeeper (employed by Mr. Kennedy, as well), as a supposedly disinterested party. Would you want to go into court in Massachusetts against a Kennedy, for a child custody case, or anything else? There have been multiple friends of Mary Kennedy's who have rebutted his version of events, but Kennedy family is spinning like crazy, and most of the press continues to buy the Kennedy family story, hook, line and sinker.

Hey not for nothing but I am an x cop from Massachusetts and I was assigned to a lot of details with the Kennedy family over the years and some of them were very nice to all of us boys in blue. But that was as far as the contact with the family would go. Question: Does anyone know how Mary Kennedy's A A sponsor is holding up? It must of been tough for her to have found Mary's body in that condition back in May. The statements from the Kennedy family about Mary's "deamons" Pisses me off, leave the poor girl alone, she can't speak for herself, she's dead!. Agree that the press only told one side of the story. FYI--if you caught your husband cheating..you wouldn't be tempted to hit him esp. if he was then divorcing you? He and Cheryl Hines are scum and deserve each other..always thought she was annoying in "Curb your enthusiasm"..how gross that Larry David (he introduced Cheryl to Kennedy)did the eulogy at the fake funeral that Robert Kennedy orchestrated with his druggie sister (Ambien Much). Ahh the whole thing..awful.

Committing suicide by hanging knowing your remains will be discovered by.your children is not the fault of Cheryl Hines or Robert Kennedy. This is the act of a psychopath. Women face loss of lifestyle due to divorce. 99.9% hire the best lawyer they can afford and accept the reality that their marriage is over. Her action are the result of years of alcohol abuse, drug abuse, incabable to accept reality etc. Have any of you considered what it must have been like to live with the woman weak uhappy women for years after you've conquered your own daemon. Robert was trapped at a point when his career was soaring she was a quivering weak woman. He said I'm leaving she refuses to face reality

Hmmm she was successful and no one other than Kennedy family said she was nutty..you obviously know zero about depression..she cracked over HIS abuse. He is still abusing her..insisting she be buried away from her family and then moving her after burial to a spot alone. As for Cheryl Hines..her hands are not clean..she is awful and I hope this affects her mediocre career.

It seems that, in your view of marriage, one mustn't let anything get in the way of a career? Yes, it appears that she was a person who was more emotionally vulnerable than average, but his behavior with Cheryl Hines is not that of a father who's putting his family (children) first. If all that you say is true, then he should have been more focused on creating a stable situation for them instead of vacationing and posing for pictures with his girlfriend.
