Bears? On the Potomac? |
| Can't you at least pick a campground with flush toilets? |
| bring burgundy washcloths!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| And this is why I don't camp. Animals might try to eat you. Pay back for all my Big Macs. And that 10pointer. |
| Make sure the Potomac is ok for canoeing after all the rain! |
There was a bear on davenport and Connecticut in the middle of dc like two years ago so I wouldn't exclude the possibility. Certainly raccoons and possum. They can be really nasty and stubborn. |
| I would be more worried about taking little kids on the Potomac to a secluded camping spot. What do you do in an emergency? |
we're not going to a campground. We will definitely check water levels, etc. DH has been canoeing many years, of course the kids can swim (not that I'd trust that in current), but will never be without life jackets. We do not enter into this lightly. The section of the Potomac we take is pretty subdued. |
| Avid potomac river boater, after storms like this week there will be all types of debris in the water (logs, branches, etc). Some you won't be able to see. Be careful. |
I've been telling my husband that for years. And also because of the psychopathic murderers that might be lurking around campsites, waiting for me to show up. So far it's worked--he hasn't made me go camping, nor has he divorced me yet for insanity. |
