I'm not Roman Catholic but I thought First Communion was when a child was 12 years old and coincided with first confession.

Not when I was a kid. We did it in 2nd grade.

Typically first confession and first communion are in 2nd grade.

Confirmation is older. Where I grew up it was 5th grade but then later moved to 8th grade.
