Geez I hope you don't end up at our school. You sound awful.

Right??? So where are you going...... hoping not to run into you. Take a deep breath and relax. She's 3 or 4. You can't control everything.

Any Beauvoir other accepts worried about how it will change with new head in a year from now. What if I don't like who they pick.

Not to be debbie downer, but not one child came off the Beauvoir wait list last year throughout all grades. Just giving an honest reality check. The school is great-just highly desirable and their acceptance numbers must build in a few assumed non-takers.

Any movement on the K waitlist? Anyone have any info to share? Our DC is on waitlist...any news from Admissions office that you have heard would be helpful.

Beauvoir has had only 4 Heads of School in 80 plus years, and has the extra supervisory umbrella of the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation above and beyond its own Board lending stewardship to the school . In addition , they can afford to hire their first choice. That, and a long established Director of Admissions, will keep things on course.

For example, did you have any current families call or write letters for your DC's file. We would like to apply again next year if our DC is not asked to enroll from waitlist, and any insights for next year would be helpful now while the process is fresh in our memories. We would greatly appreciate any info on your DC's application profile (ie WPPSI scores, etc) that you would feel comfortable sharing.

I know someone who had their DC WL for Pre-K , then accepted for KDG the following year at Beauvoir. If you know a family there who would speak highly of you, not just in a letter but in person to the AD, I would accept their offer to do that. My DC was accepted off the wait list at Beauvoir and I knew absolutely noone and we are just regular middle class people, so it does happen. I think they just really liked my DC on the play date. My DC did not have any pre-school recs at all, but that might also help if they are excellent.
Best of luck and don't give up. People do move away, you know.

DS waitlist pre-k...

Have to be patient and call after March 15th to find out the ranking in the wait list.....

Best of luck for everybody else....

Does Beauvoir discuss over the telephone "the ranking in the wait list" with w/l applicant families? Ten years ago, Beauvoir w/l our K-applicant DS. We wrote a hard copy letter immediately, thanking Beauvoir for the possibility of admission, and re-stated Beauvoir was first choice, and committed to enroll immediately if DS were to be admitted. After receiving a call or two from Beauvoir, three weeks later he was admitted. It never occurred to us to call and ask about the ranking in the wait list. I wouldn't call and ask about the "ranking in the wait list".

Agreed. Your handling of it was very classy and more likely to make you appear an attractive option.
