If you ate your placenta

As for the other posters, I knew you would come sooner or later. As for your attitude: Meh, when I was shaking and crying thinking I should not carry my baby because I could drop her and kill her or when I locked my balcony door and placed a huge bookcase in front of it because I was scared of dropping her from our 3rd floor balcony you were not there to give me a helping hand. And whoever was told me to take drugs to make these feelings go away.

When my supply dropped, they said to give formula - yeah, the one with arsenic and sakazakii. And I can't forget the fear of taking those 3 bags of God knows whose blood because I lost too much of mine.

You know what? I wish I was brave enough to eat it raw and get back what belongs to my body. But I'm not and I'm fine with using alternatives. My doctor (OMG yeah! I'm using one how cool is that?) who has been seeing me since I got pregnant and started thinking about a VBAC (yeah! I had a hospital birth the first time and will have another one this time around - sorry to disappoint you) is totally supportive of this procedure, he recommends it and even mentioned he prefers to do it first before suggesting anything else to treat any hormonal imbalance. Oh and he practices "delayed" cord clamping as a standard. And he uses the quotation marks explaining that the way it's done is just what's right. The average standard procedure to clamp while pulsing should be called premature clamping instead.

Anyway, from now on I'll focus on reading the helpful posts with tips on the topic. The trolls can save their fingers because theirs posts will be ignored.

It seems obvious that eating your placenta did wonders for you!

You know what? It might have been mine. I've been donating blood at least six times a year since college. You're welcome.

But, hoping the placenta thing works out for you.

Thank you very much! And I think it's a beautiful act. For someone in an accident who needs it in an emergency you're really saving a life. But if I can avoid it I will. I've seen more then enough close calls of people receiving the wrong type of blood or people having complications during the transfusion procedure.

I'd rather try the harmless capsules first.

I had to have two blood tranfusions in May of 2010 and the hospital and all blood banks are exremely careful in type matching. It took over 24 hours to find my match and it was flown in by Red Cross. This is bull about people receiving wrong type of blood. However, you can have a bad, even fatal, reaction to a blood transfusion of your own type.

But if your body delivers it whole, why would it be "natural" to ingest it? The body is getting rid of it. It's not like we eat our menstrual blood to gain strength or whatever... I can't believe a physician would be amenable to thus- maybe they're just humoring you?

If you're anemia, why don't you take iron pills or eat more red meat or spinach?

OP here. I work in health care and have seen my fare share of "accidents" during transfusions and like you said including people receiving their own blood. That's why I want to avoid it.

I want to believe you're asking an honest question so I'll respond with the best of my knowledge...

The placenta is an organ that develops during the pregnancy. It takes so much from your own body - look at how our hair, nails, skin, etc react because of all the nutrients being shifted around between mom and baby... It produces all sorts of hormones - it's like a huge gland producing hormones and filtering nutrients/waste to keep the baby alive while it can't do it on its own.

I've been anemic for several years and the battle to find the reason why is not over yet. I have done all the diets you can think of, I've ingested all sorts of iron pills you can see in the market and nothing has helped. Doctors can't see what's wrong with me. I honestly don't see the harm in this "natural" option.

I'd love to read more about people who have tried it and what they did to help making easy to ingest. There's no way I'll eat it raw or cook it with a meal, though

get back what belongs to my body

It doesn't belong in your body that is why it is expelled in the first place. Mother Nature knows best.

Do you really wanna go there? Mammals have been ingesting their placenta for several different reasons for a long long time...

OP, try again in a few weeks with a new thread without the shots at blood transfusions and formula. I actually am a huge breastfeeding advocate, and I think there might be something to placenta encapsulation, though it's not for me... But your attitude came across as alienating. I think you seem like you're in a raw frame of mind and I get it - it's hard to over a hard birth and PP period...totally get that. But, ease up on yourself and others before posting again. You catch more flies with honey than vinegar and all!

I've tried it before and go nothing but snark and tasteless humor. The exact same thing I got here. DCUM is the same no matter what attitude you have. Last time around, the jokes were at least funny.

I truly lost my hope when I had more than 3 pages of posters telling me it was not big deal that I had a vanish twin, people saying it was not a real loss, etc... it went down from there, the language was shocking! Just 4 people were respectful and posted something nice.

Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate it. It's so rare around here...

Yes, I will go their. Animals eat their placenta so that the scent is not left behind to draw predators. This is to protect their young.

Yup, that is one of the reasons. Good job. They also don't know how to use scissors to cut the cord and they don't have nurses bringing them ice chips and food a few hours after labor. What else do you know? (or didn't know)?

They also lick the litter to spread the vernix on their skin instead of bathing them... to protect against predators and to moisturize their skin and protect against the dry environment outside the womb. To give them warmth. We, instead bathe them to remove the protective layer rubbing them with cancerous stuff J&J gives "for free" at the hospital and put them in an electric warmer. Something is not right here...

So can we expect an "If you licked your baby after she was born" post in the near future? 'Cause that would be excellent.

If that's what you got from the entire explanation I won't even try to talk about using your hands to do it instead because you obviously is not smart enough to understand that.

OP, I was sympathetic to you until this. I had to give my baby formula and it was certainly not my first choice, and your palpable disdain for moms like me makes you a distasteful person. This is definitely bolstered by the next statement -- "God knows whose blood." You know whose blood it was? The nasty, disgusting person who took the time out of their day to have blood sucked out of their vein so that YOU could live to raise your child. Like me.

Go to hell.

Sounds to me like that PP must already be there. What a nasty, bitter existence she must live to think in the ways she does.
