Where in Kensington or Silver Spring?

We are in Kensington Heights and are very happy with the neighborhood, proximity to metro: Wheaton v close, and Forest Glen a tidge farther. At times, I drive to Grosvenor when I want to be on the other end of the red line because I occasionally have to commute to Friendship Heights. It is a short drive, even in rush hour. We can walk to the Safeway and shops in ToK and can also walk to Giant and Target (but usually drive there since I can't leave Target without buying too much crap). There is a good mix of WOH/WAH/SAH parents in the area, as well as older empty nesters and couples with no children. Very few singles.

We have neighbors who love Oakland Terrace and those who are at Rock View ES and also love it. I don't know the people with MS aged children but the all the HS parents I've talked to seem happy with Einstein.

Kensington is a lovely community. Depending on where you live library and walk to Metro not too bad.
Love the community. Not super diverse though.

We love in Sligo Park Hills, about .75 miles from the metro, right past the Whole Foods there. We love it - especially the down-to-earth families in our neighborhood. We love our school (Sligo Creek) and have heard good things about Silver Spring International MS. We are zoned for Northwood, which I hear mixed things about, but that's true if all the HSs in this area I think. Some posters will say their child went there and loved it, others will say heck no. We have experience as we have a K and 2nd grader.

Love love love our neighborhood and rarely drive anywhere. Tons of park, right by Sligo Creek Trail, houses under $600k in great updated condition (though they will be smaller and older). Oops - sidewalks are rare. But I think that's true of a lot if the area unfortunately.

Would love to have you as a neighbor!
