mustache on finger still cracks me up
my son and nephew video taped a whole play with mouths drawn on the thumb and pointer finger. |
I think the trailler park lady will have a heart attack when her little snowflake starts hanging out with the kids raised there.

Finger puppets! So cute!!
But on this thread, OP started off by raving:
That I think is dreadful on several levels. But you can disagree. OP asked and posters answered. |
We even have - gasp - crayons designed for body art! DS loves them and he is free to use them whenever. He also drew all over his hand with orange marker, didn't get it all off before bed, and ended up with an orange shiner in the morning once this week. Meh. I think he had a rip in the knee of his pants as he went off to school in the morning, too. He goes to a preschool where we are mostly a bunch of laid back hippies, so probably no one thinks I'm too much of a nasty dirty trailer-dwelling child neglecter.
|
Yes I do. Well, did. He's older now.
And OP, fwiw, I think your questions is a really good way to measure the whack-tastic trainwreck level of nuttiness that is DCUM. |
This may be one of the weirdest threads ever. |
No it's not. O'm not the OP, but when kids scribble a little on themselves that's one thing--but when they ink themselves up horribly and it goes unwashed for days and days, yeah, that's neglect. Wash the crap off of your kid. |

LOL ^^ |
Yes, my daughter is free to make designs on her skin, and often does with markers. She also loves temporary tattoos, and currently has them on both hands. She also is wearing nail polish (non-toxic). She usually has them on for several days since we only make her wash her hair (and take a bath) once a week. I do not want to squelch her sense of individuality and creativity and confidence in herself. I'm letting her express herself however she wants. |
temporary tattoos and stamps are fine (they get stamps at the end of gymnastics class at my DD's preschool). I don't encourage using pens/sharpies etc... to draw on skin (and will stop them if I see them doing it). |
I still draw on my skin, why not let my kid? Yes, I write grocery lists on my hand too and phone numbers. |
OP here.. That's interesting... I ALWAYS write things down on my hand... Like if I have left overs in the fridge to take to work or to remember to take it back home, a quick grocery list, if I need to call someone, etc. That's interesting, I would never notice the connection. |
Every time my son draws with markers he ends up coloring on his hands and arms too. That's why I get washable markers. When he is done, we wash his hands and arms! WOW, doesn't everyone feel better now.

Just wash the crud off your sprogs. |
