I've had this problem at Target as well, especially with the darker jeans. |
It’s the cheap dye they use. Expensive denim doesn’t have this. |
I used to work for one of those flash sale sites that was big in the late 00s/early 2010s and we had this problem a lot. Major department stores would unload runs of items that had the dye smell or that picked up stuff like kerosene heater smells if they were manufactured in cottage industry situations. My daughter’s school uniform jumpers kept the chemical smell forever when bought new so I now only get her used ones through the school uniform exchange sales. |
