Amazon Mom- You SUCK!

Anonymous
My biggest gripe is with Amazon Subscribe & Save. I'm not getting notified if something on my standing order list is not available. And then I scramble when I realize I'm going to run out of something.

20% discount and free delivery to my door is still a good deal to me.

It's supposed to entice new customers to try their product and service and become enamored enough to stay with them after the introductory offer expires. Since hundreds of companies do this, why are you getting upset when the offer is over? If you only tried it for the price, then try to find a better price elsewhere. Sheesh. Yes, you are entitled. You feel entitled to a discounted price for longer than the offer was made for.

the 30% off diapers and wipes was not an introductory offer. it was routine. and they are ending it. i'm willing to bet they were not so much LOSING money on this as much as they are wanting to make MORE money than they were. i smell corporate greed. and yes, they are entitled to persue corporate greed. and we are entitled to want and look for are be consumers of those who offer the best deal. so yes, she, and indeed, we all are entitled to be demanding consumers and want the best deal and if that means 30% off diapers and wipes, then so be it.
it is not morally superior to pay a higher price nor is it morally objectionable to demand a lower price and leave a business if they raise their price. it is the obligation of businesses to provide a competitive price and services to their consumers if they want to attract and retain their customers.. consumers do not have any obligations morally or otherwise to patronize any given business.

So where is it you're taking your business now?

Not sure yet. I'll have to reassess the relative costs. The obvious choice is just to start buying from Costco or Target again.

Here is one article that lists online alternatives to Amazon. http://financialedge.investopedia.com/financial-edge/0811/Four-Online-Shopping-Alternatives-To-Amazon.aspx#axzz1jLrOvEfa The ebay "get it now" option is sort of intriguing. The article is 6 months old now, so maybe there are other online alternatives to consider now.

Um... It was probably us Amazon Moms who sucked for Amazon. It was great while it lasted. The two day free shipping has to be killing them. For a year, we ordered bulk liquid ready-to-feed formula at 30% off with free two day shipping (those things are VERY heavy). We ordered several crib mattresses, which came practically the next day and sent back the ones we didn't like for free. We ordered nipples for $2, and got them expressed shipped again, almost the next day, for free. They worked well, so we ordered another set and again, they magically appeared. We did buy a hell of a lot more, a hell of a lot more for having free shipping and subscribing to things than we ever would have otherwise... but they obviously realized you can't just bundle other items easily with a box of diapers. These enormous boxes who arrive, filled with three boxes of diapers (which at 30% off were buy-2-get-one-free!) and about 15 feet of paper packing material in a box as tall as the UPS guy delivering it. Not efficient! But it was SO good while it lasted... and, er, sorry for abusing you, Amazon.

My first thought as well.
