Thoughts on Capital Women's Care?

Dr. Bajaj at CWC K St is the absolute best. I highly recommend her.

I've been at the K Street office for years. Dr. Picco delivered DD and I've never had anything but positive experiences - with the one exception that she seems to always be running late.

I am 37.5 weeks and just left CWC ( bethesda ) for another practice. I should have done it months ago and trusted my judgement. I have delivered two babies with Gswchend though, before they were with CWC and had very good experiences with them.

sorry, pp here. I should have been more clear, there are two CWC practices in Bethesda, I just left the one with Margolis, Apgar, Alter, etc. They also have an office near Shady Grove hospital. Gschwend and Kleinerman are in the same office building off of Fernwood.

This must be the one 19:20 is talking about also. Though they only deliver at Sibley, which might be tough from MoCo.

Yep, Gschwend and Kleinerman deliver at Sibley.

Couldn't stand CWC on K St. Went through my first pregnancy there and should have left but didn't out of laziness. Thought Picco was AWFUL, Newman was so-so, didn't feel confident with Bajaj, the front desk was horrible, etc. etc. Ended up being induced 3 wks early and in hindsight think it was medically unnecessary. I thankfully switched practices, had an identical second pregnancy with a provider who was way more engaged and much less alarmist. My perfectly healthy baby came on her own and I'm certain that if I were still with CWC the same docs would have pushed another unnecessary induction.

I saw Dr. Berger-Wise at the one in Silver Spring off Lockwood. I thought she was awesome. She always took her time at appointments, very informative, patient and my surgery went super well! I had a high risk pregnancy and ended up having to have a C-section. Only 8 months PP and can barely see the scar. Love her!

I'm actually in MoCo and am with Kleinerman/Gschwend - we're in North Bethesda (right near their office) so can get to Sibley pretty easily... don't know much about the other Bethesda office. I also like the office staff at the Fernwood office.

Are you willing to share where you go? (for those of us looking for non-CWC options!)

Sure. I switched to Whitney Pinger, CNW who was @ WHC, now at GW.

Went to CWC in the Bethesda office-primary doc was Beckerman, saw all the others and was delivered by Wolfgram at Shady Grove. I had a great experience with all of them. I am among the women who believe that normal, uncomplicated pregnancies actually do not need long office visits, so I never felt rushed but rather relieved that I could get in an out and only have to take about an hour's leave from work. Front desk and scheduling were great with me, and I never had a billing/insurance issue.

I switched from CWC on Lockwood Drive to the midwives because I wanted more support for a natural childbirth and I wanted to deliver at Shady Grove because they have tubs. However, the CWC doctors were excellent at returning calls and careful screening for pregnancy complications. I think CWC is best for a higher-risk pregnancy or for someone who is not focused on natural childbirth. My main complaint with CWC is that I felt rushed during some of the office visits.

Which midwives? (if this PP is still around, or if anyone else has a recommendation)

I'm not the PP but I had the same experience at CWC on Lockwood: the OBs return calls promptly, etc., but seem to be best for high-risk pregnancies. I switched to the midwives at Special Beginnings in Arnold, Md., and had a wonderful experience. So glad I switched.

I had the exact same experience at CWC on Lockwood. Fine practice and they are thorough but it's very rushed and you don't get a sense that they are supportive of natural childbirth. I just switched to MCA and I am very happy that I did. http://www.midwiferycareassociates.com/

It depends on what you are looking for in a provider. I also agree CWC seems to do very well with higher-risk pregnancies.

I was a patient at CWC in Silver Spring but switched at 16 weeks. I really liked the 2 midwives, but didn't like the OBs, particularly my own (can't remember her name). I was super lucky and got into Birthcare in Alexandria. My plan was to have a birth center birth, but ended up having an awesome homebirth with Marsha.

I switched because I felt like I stood a higher chance of an unnecessary c-section. Every new mom I met in the waiting area had had one (and these were young moms). I switched the day I met a mom who had gotten to 9cm and still ended up in the OR for "failure to progress".
