Sleep tips for an infant with reflux

Anonymous
dd slept in the fisher price infant-to-toddler rocker til she was 8 mos. we also put a dex wedge under her crib mattress, but it didn't seem to be high enough of an angle, and even then, she slid down the incline and sometimes ended up upside down.

Always burp him. And keep him upright for at least 20-30 minute after each feeding. That helps.

Even if he's asleep you can still burp him - newborns and young infants get used to it (or it never phases them to begin with). It gets tougher when they get older but you can separate nursing and nap time so he's not nursing before nap.

Sleeping in a Boppy is not recommended (suffocation risk - they can slide down and close their airway). Carseats are also not recommended, but I think it is ok once in a while as long as you loosen the buckles (providing you are not driving) and keep an eye on them to make sure they don't tuck their chin. We found bouncer seats to be useful for naps in the early months - they keep a good angle for reflux babies.

Once babies can roll on their own (front to back, back to front) sleeping on their stomach is ok. You can also lay them on their side.
