A Horrible Experience at the Vet

You were late, for the office to even see you is a plus IMO given that you were very late. Because you have small children doesn't mean they should have whisked you right back, catered to you. You were late. If you had arrived at the time you were scheduled maybe you would not have had to wait or wait as long. I am not trying to be mean, I have 3 small children myself but the vet does not have to accommodate you. If it were me I would have rescheduled for the next week if it were going to interfere with nap time. To be honest with you the receptionists patience was probably short with you anyway. Aside from showing up late, having two cranky, fussy children in the office probably didn't sit well with them. As I said I have kids too and I don't like my kids whining, running around, and I definitely don't have patience when its someone else's kid doing it. I would suggest finding a new vet, keeping your appointments when they don't conflict with nap time and having a back up sitter to watch the baby if needed.

I worked in a med field that had scheduled appointments, we would not even consider seeing any one if they came in pass 15 min's late. It is too disruptive to the others that showed up ON TIME. Sorry, but there are two sides to this. Now the rudeness is another story all together. There was no need for that. I do not think they needed to entertain your children but being polite should be the only acceptable option for the receptionist

Yes, but they messed with her schedule first. Their fault. But the issue is attitude and professionalism.

As in most of life, the fault lies somewhere in the middle. Life should not be expected to roll out the red carpet for you simply because you have children. But you have the right to expect civility in most situations, especially in a service oriented business.
