Is there a feeder school for Georgetown Prep?

Visitation feeders--- Our Lady of Mercy (Potomac) Blessed Sacrament (Chevy Chase) St. Mary's (Old Town)

I am a former Visitation teacher. We had students from pretty much all of the area Catholic schools: Our Lady of Victory, Lourdes, Holy Trinity, Blessed Sacrament, Little Flower, St. Elizabeth's, St. Anns, Annunciation, etc. A handful of girls came from non-Catholic schools, but not many. HTH!

How did the non-Catholic girls like the environment? Were they welcomed? How cliquish is Visitation?

Based on what? Georgetown Prep has an excellent math and science program, particularly if the students are able to place in the Honor/AP classes. Many students from GP place out of Calculus 1 and 2 in college. There may not be as many students who take these classes for a variety of reasons including pre-determined career choices, but I know from experience that GP has a great math and science program (in addition to the other subjects). Hope this helps

Blessed sacrament (DC) sends around 12 girls per year to Visitation. Slightly less to Gonzaga. Georgetown prep - maybe one or two. Most kids destined for GP leave earlier for Mater Dei (and go back a grade when they do it which seems so odd).

Um, I think you must be referring to Landon.

Landon's studenta are more Jewish than Prep's. They are typically undersized and physically inferior athletes vs Prep.

Guess those undersized athletes were pretty good to beat prep at their last game

There are sometimes exceptions.

Have you never heard of the Jesuits? Daniel Moynaham? Tim Russert? Chris Matthews? Just to name a few prominent DC- types who had Catholic educations. Never mind serious Catholic intellectuals like Alisdair Macintyre and others. And many of our kids will end up applying to Georgetown University (if they can bear to be so close to us) which has not forsaken its Jesuit identity.

Open your minds people. WASP doesn't not = "superior academically."

If you have an objection to Catholic schools based on doctrine, then that might be fair -- but it's another topic. The top Catholic schools train their students to be rigorously analytical.

I know because my father was in Catholic schools all the way through college (but not through grad school), and is still has one of the finest mind that I've come across. I myself got my mother's WASP brain. Had I had followed her example, would have learned not to try too hard. Apparently it was unladylike/ungentlemanly amongst people of her background to actually strive for knowledge (or anything else).

Georgetown Prep and Georgetown Visitation are schools of the finest caliber that should concede nothing to Landon or STA.

PP, thank you! Anti-Catholic academic bias is alive and well on DCUM and I have never understood why. I am a Stone Ridge alumna (the Sacred Heart are often compared to the Jesuits in mission and intellectual approach) and attended a first tier SLAC for undergraduate and a "public Ivy" for graduate school. In most cases, the students I encountered who were best prepared for post high school work had attended Catholic schools, especially when it came to the ability to read and write critically.

As opposed to the anti semitic comment posted above.

The Catholic mafia mentality that exists at GP is just pathetic. Prep There are a few parents at GP who really look down at Catholic families who decide to send their kids to a non catholic institution. I know every student at GP is not always Catholic, however I get the notion that there is a disdain for non- Catholics at GP. Even worst, the arrogance displayed by the GP Parents is sometime insulting at sporting events.
