Where else to get honest info on FCPS?

We went to the fireworks in Ida Lee park in Leesburg on Monday and had an absolute blast. Great area.

Where in Loudoun are you? Not being nasty, just genuinely curious. I would love to live in the downtown Leesburg - if it made ANY sense for our commutes.

Honestly, my commute is what keeps us in Fairfax. If only my husband made alone what we currently make combined....

A block outside the Old and Historic District. My wife and I both work west of Route 28. 3000 square feet, all brick, on a quarter-acre. 8-15 minute walk to anything in downtown Leesburg.

OP here. If only I didn't work on Capitol Hill . . .

Look at Burke, great great schools - ES, MS, HS. Take the VRE into L'Enfant, then metro up to the Hill. Or, if you decide to drive, there's a slug line here and you can pick commuters up to the same area. Burke's also very family friendly, in so many ways. We moved here five years ago and, three children later, have never looked back. Houses are very reasonable, too. Good luck!

PP here, I should have mentioned Burke Centre specifically (rather than just Burke). Burke Centre is what puts the icing on the cake in this area, IMO...

Is Burke Center a town center like Reston Town Center, a strip mall, or a subdivision? Is it the "icing on the cake" or the "lipstick on the pig"?

In other words, what really makes "Burke Center" any different from Ashburn or Chantilly?

It's a "Planned Residential Community."

Looks like typical 1970s suburbia, not that there's anything wrong with that.

When we were looking for houses, I just struck up conversations with every parent I met in the pediatrician's office, on the playground, etc., about their kid's school. Worked because we were looking at houses near where we were living.

we're about to put in an offer on a house there. Can you tell me about the FLES program, though? I was trying to get my daughter into an immersion program, but we're wait listed and I'm also not willing to make that drive every morning from Fairfax to Reston. She starts K in september, and I am hoping she will get language classes in K through FLES.
