What is a small population, if the DCPS enrollment is at 45,000 and Eastern's school history has shown it held as many as 2,2350. Then the small population (estimation by 2015) of 1,200 is nothing to sneeze at, we might be small but we're not insignificant.

I thought the purpose of the Master Facilities Plan for DCPS was to upgrade all of the schools. So far McKinley, SWW, Wilson, HD Woodson, Luke Moore, Eastern, Phelps have been renovated or rebuilt. Anacostia, Cardozo and Dunbar are in the pipeline next. So, that's 10 out of the 17 DCPS high schools. Not bad IMHO. Let's be positive and forward thinking about this. Hopefully in 10 years the majority of all of our school buildings will be up-to-date.

I do feel that Banneker is getting the short-end of the Master Facilities Plans. In retrospect the Bell-Lincoln project would have fallen in the abyss if it was not for Principal Tukeva taken matters into her own hands. Why, heck not only did she rebuild an entire educational campus but had it renamed.

If one has to look at the high-schools that have longevity at the principal helm it is Banneker and Columbia Heights respectively.
