Gay marriage opinions: what state do you live in?

This is me. 52 white in interracial marriage with LBGT inlaws. Have friends that are LBGT. I grew up in military family. My parents have/had friends whose children were LBGT and I saw first hand how homophobia ruined some of those families. Most of them took years to come to terms with their children's orientation. So sad. All those years wasted. I never want that for my family. My children know that they will be loved and cherished regardless of their sexual orientation.

I just realized "first responder" may have been ambiguous. I meant I was the first who answered this thread, not that I'm a fireman or anything of that sort.

Question for you, if I'm not being too personal. Where you accepting from the get go or did you have to warm up to the idea?
