How does BCC have middle and low income kids? They are smack dab in the middle of Bethesda/Chevy Chase? |
Perhaps not "low income" in the sense of SE Washington... but definitely BCC has more of a mix. There are (believe it or not), a lot of families that live in modest apartments/condos (even rental units) in downtown Bethesda -- and most of those kids go to BCC.
I agree with the PP who said there are definitely some true "middle income" kids there... "low income"... I think that's a matter of perspective, but I doubt anyone living in Bethesda is truly "low income". |
As for Whitman, when my high school boyfriend went there 10 years ago, they had the same reputation for excellence. He was a poor student and generally a "bad" kid. His junior year he was called into the office and it was suggested he drop out. Which he did. Since he didn't go to college, I'm sure this helped their SAT and college admissions #s. |
I am having hard time understanding why really really wealthy, snobby kids driving porsches go to -- gasp -- Churchill in the first place. I would think they are in private schools. No? |
Let me add that I live in the Churchill district and there are many many middle, or upper middle class neighborhoods. Churchill covers a lot of ground. |
Some do, but many also go to Churchill (and probably Whitman). I and my sibs attended Churchill in the late 1980's to mid-1990's. So maybe it's different now. All I can tell you is that, at the time, the student parking lot contained a fair amount of luxury vehicles. Sugar Ray Leonard's son (definitely wealthy) was in the class below mine. |
does anyone know which colleges kids end up at from Churchill, Whitman and BCC |
