I too had a leak, a running toilet, but I LOVE LOVE my water company. I got a knock at the door one day and it was the water company. They noticed that our water consumption had spiked in the month and they asked if they could have a look around. Sure enough, the toilet in the basement that we NEVER use had a leak and just ran and ran. I turned off the valve, replaced the toilet, problem solved.
I was so impressed. They try to do this for all consumption they see spike in order to avoid the problem OP is talking about. |

I'm confused. Why does Dominion Power have a water line replacement insurance?
But thanks for the pp who suggested the toilet in the basement. Not the OP, but another person with a high spike. The county is coming tomorrow to check for leaks outside, but the one place we didn't check was the basement toilet. Here's hoping its that toilet and we can avoid the $5 grand fix. |
