Coming here illegaly has nothing to do with getting a green card.

To enter the country all you need is a visa and that's what coming here illegally entitles - entering the country without an authorization and this is another totally different issue.

Both are really stupid and make no sense but they're different issues.

Green Card has to do with your status.
