Infants, Toddlers, & Preschoolers
| My 6 year old DS loves salad with oil and vinegar dressing. It's usually lettuce with tomatoes, olives and parmesan cheese. Sometims croutons if we have them. He also loves tortillas with refried beans and beef, chicken or scrambled eggs. Also loves baby carrots dipped in hummus, triscuits & cheese. He eats just about everything, but has a nut/peanut allergy so obviously doesn't eat those. |

OK, super healthy people will hate my grilled cheese sandwich, but here goes:
whole grain bread choice of cheese slice of tomato thyme or oregano sprinkled on it (I also use hot pepper flakes for me) brushed with olive oil cut into fours. absolutely divine. |
| ^ Sounds yummy! What kind of cheese do you normally use? |

Haha, I'm glad someone said something about the older kids. I was quite smug about my vegetable/fish/whole grain eating toddlers.
I am humbled now that they are 9 and 6 year olds. |
Whatever's in the house. Provolone and munster. Sometimes I add a little goat cheese. |
| For those of you who feed veggie burgers, which ones do you buy? I stopped feeding them to DS once I found out about all the crazy ingredients. Is there ones that are better? The ones that were not so good were morning star and boca. |
| op here-thanks for all the great ideas. |

I'm surprised to hear that the kids over 5 are even my picky. My 2.5 year old is so picky that I'm terrified of what will happen in a few years.
Also, who has time in this area to cook like this? I figured everyone else had bad hours/commutes too? |
| PP here, I also meant to say that we try to do one meal for the whole family, but also offer at least one choice of something we know that DC will eat (usually that's yogurt if all else fails). |
If it makes you feel better, my older child got a LOT less picky around 4 to 4 1/2, although she's still hit or miss on a lot of things (likes green beans one day, won't touch them a week later). I hope the same holds true for my 3 year old, because he basically eats grilled cheese and pb&j. I'm also nervous about this whole "boy over 5" thing. Oh well, I make a great pb&j, and DH makes a mean grilled cheese, so I guess we'll be ok for a while. And yes, awful commutes here, so our healthy food really looks nothing like any of the PP's. Except that I use whole grain pasta. Other than that... |
It's pretty easy to do if you do a little planning. I can get most dinners on the table in 20 - 30 minutes. And crock pot recipes make it even easier. |
