Why Beauvoir?

Anonymous
We're looking at Beauvoir for three reasons: 1) quality school with traditional values (no calling teachers by first names, e.g.) and 2) proximity to our home, 3) AWESOME playground. I actually find its "Establishment" rep a negative (and I am from "Establishment" Washington), since I am not one to "dress" for carpool.

I agree with sentiment of this poster. We decided to send our DC to Beauvoir because we really like the school, the facilities, access to very demanding high schools (if appropriate), proximity to house. It felt like a very special place for young children. Our DC was accepted everywhere we applied so we had quite a choice to make! I feel very blessed that there are so many wonderful schools in our area. In the end, we decided on Beauvoir because we think the structure and atmosphere (among teachers and children) will suit our DC but we worried about other parents! I do worry if we made the right choice because of the elitist atmosphere in the school but also because of the attitude of others (reverse snobbery??? or something I am not seeing???) toward the school. I hope we have.

A non-WASP parent at Beauvoir who likes the teachers and facilities but not-so-much the reputation.
