Is she headed to college? Back from her first year? Not going the college route?
She needs to see a mental health professional in any case, because this is not a way to live. It's also a way to, ironically, mess up her future because she can't function well in the present. I am a college professor and see students who remind me of this. A common pattern is that they initally appear very put together beacuse they are extremely conscientious and high self monitors. Then I start to notice they're a little over the top in these ways. Then I notice that that they can't get work turned in (good work!) because they're perfectionistic to a fault (and they're worries and self-criticisms are not aligned with reality). It sees like an issue where they very much want to move forward but can't because they are too stuck. IMO she needs a psychiatrist to get on effective medication(s). They help. Especially if she's headed to live away from home for the first time! |
