You are completely wrong. The weather forecast actually shows 63% humidity on Monday. When you convert it to the heat index using the conversion chart from National Weather Service, with a temperature of just 91 and a humidity level at 63%, the heat index is already at 104. No, I wouldn’t want my child running outside or exercising at that temperature. YMMV. |
| Is this thread a joke? |
You need to learn what the dew point is and I'm shocked you don't already know living in the DMV (if you're from here) 63% at what time? Not when it's 93. G'head and look at the forecast with dew points it will give you the story instead of the horrible metric of relative humidity. The Heat Index won't come close to 105. |
I thought the same |
[google]
Humidity is 57% at 11:30 am. That coincides with the class. |
OK here's your small meteorology lesson for the day. I picked the most extreme forecast where it shows 97, but the rel humidity is 33% because it's relative to the temperature. Dew point is far superior because the dew point is the dew point. 61 dp is actually a bit humid and that will suck, but that's the exact worse time of day. It's nothing like the oppressive 70+ dps we get in the summer.

| Notice the Heat Index isn't above the temp at all. Your kid will be fine for PE class |
| Usually pe teachers and coaches are pretty good about hydration. If your kid has a particular condition, write a note. Otherwise, I would trust the teacher’s judgement. They aren’t going to be pushed to extreme levels if it’s not safe. |
|
Unless your child has a medical issue, I would let them deal with it. It will be uncomfortable, especially because it’s been so cold, and we’re not used to the heat, but they will be fine.
I would tell them to let a teacher know if they feel faint or nauseous |
That's....not the kind of humid I was talking about, sweetie. I am thinking you are just a high schooler who doesn't want to run a mile, LOL! |
Ok whatever sweetie. 62% humidity on Monday is very close to that “70% we get in summers.” I don’t get why you are so disgruntled about my valid concern. |
DEW POINT! not % TY. Also the image has the feels like (essentially the heat index). It's not very humid and any kid will be fine unless they have a severe medical issue. |
| Also even have a breeze which is uncommon on the really hot muggy summer days. |
The dew point will be 60-67 degrees. The UV index is at a 10 - very hight. |

I put in all the forecasted values including dew point for Monday and got this:
Extreme caution: at this condition, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are possible. Continuing activity could result in heat stroke. |
