If this happened at a DCI feeder, than DCPS has nothing to do with it. They will accept her at her IB at any time, which is their only responsibility. If her school has another campus, then there might be a way to finagle that; if not, I don’t think by what mechanism her school could even offer her a placement elsewhere in some other LEAs. Unfortunately, this is where being at a charter does give you fewer options.

But I thought they were all legally part of DC public schools?

No - they are a part of the umbrella of Office of the State Superintendent of Education. Under this is DCPS and DCPCS

Not all DCI feeders are within the same LEA. You can't just place someone in another LEA as there are established rules for how enrollment works in part to make sure that people do not get special treatment.

They weren't in DCPS, so this isn't DCPS's responsibility. And even when you need a safety transfer within DCPS, you don't get to choose.

This. I wonder if you could ask to be placed in DCI though, when the time comes. The only reason OP is losing your feed spot is because of this assault, and that doesn't seem fair.

I doubt it. And it's a harder argument when the involved staff was fired, so arguably the OP is removing her child unnecessarily.

OP I will say if you want to keep them the same place for middle and you’re losing your DCI feeder, Cap City could be good because the middle school starts in 5th. You’ve gotten some other great suggestions on the DCPS front; wishing you well.
