Vanderbilt or Emory for pre med?

If you get into all of them, then decide which city is your favorite! Emory Greek is probably a lot like duke greek, vandy is more intense, and rice doesn't have it. Sports at Emory and rice are similar, vandy and duke are similar.

She's deposited and enrolled at Vanderbilt. Off waitlist at Emory. Declined Rice. Currently waitlisted at Duke.

Just stay at Vandy. Isn't this like the third thread you've started about your daughter's choices? Getting a bit weird.

No, that wasn't me--I haven't posted about any of this before.
I'm going to search for what you're talking about.

So guess Emory isnt that easy PP. Either way I would switch to Emory.

Culturally Duke and Emory are more similar, yes Duke has big time sports but the student body is more similar to Emory.

You’re hilarious. Vanderbilt is known as the #1 school for unremarkable private school kids who couldn’t get into Duke.

Duke and Emory are more diverse, and less conservative.

My kid really likes Emory, but if your daughter cares at all about attending sporting events and the culture around that…stick with Vandy.

My kid knows enough people at UGA and Ga Tech to get his football and basketball fix, but he knows it’s not quite the same as being a student there.

He does enjoy all that Atlanta has to offer and he likes that there is a social scene that involves all the Atlanta colleges (Emory, Tech, Spellman et al).

Vandy, Emory and Duke are all A+ for pre- med. Your daughter should go where she’s most comfortable and most likely to be happy and do well. I went to Emory. Culturally it’s more of a northern school than Vandy. However, I’ve visited friends at Vandy and I really liked it. I don’t know Duke.

lol what? C'mon now. Rice is a D1 Football FBS School. Emory is D3.

The Emory basher, hopped and skipped out of the thread after learning OP was off the Emory waitlist and not the other way around...
Any way the choice is based on fit, and it seems since rah rah doesn't mean much to DC, I would go with Emory.

For a pre-med, I would suggest the student withdraw from Vanderbilt and commit to Emory. General chemistry and organic Chemistry, weeder premed classes, are not as challenging at Emory when compared to other peer institutions. In addition, there are more research and clinical opportunities in Atlanta compared to Nashville. If the student gets off the waitlist at Duke, then I would withdraw from Emory and commit to Duke.

There is no Emory basher. There are quite a few posters who dislike Emory mom for taking shots at WashU on a thread about WashU and embellishing Emory's admissions statistics. With a high school junior interested in pre-med, both of us are looking at Emory and we like what we see so far.
