Is there something we can do? A petition or something?
I think you should have a license to ride e-bikes at the very least, if not e-scooters too. I was almost hit by one on the sidewalk between Discovery and Williamsburg at 4PM. Middle school boys drive them on sidewalks, streets, parks, do wheelies, record themselves, and are going 20+ MPH. The e-bikes are basically small motorcycles. |
| I mostly try to mind my own business, but those things are awful. So are the scooters. |
I'm all for that but when one drives into us, WE have the problem... |
|
The County Board has been too busy listening to and placating the people who whined endlessly about their competitive gymnastics team.
It's deeply frustrating. |
Ugh that gymnastics stuff was ridiculous. My favorite part was when the parents said we’ll pay a higher fee to keep it and the county said ok let’s do that and then the parents said wait wait what do you mean higher fee. |
|
It's not a matter of if there's a tragic accident, but *when*. It's too bad we're going to be reactive instead of proactive with this issue. |
They are paying a higher fee. |
They still aren’t even close to covering costs and they balked at the originally suggested fee increase and it got lowered. Let’s leave aside the ones who don’t even freaking live in Arlington. |
Those red clunky e-bikes can go 40 mph??!! |
| These are scary. I let my kid play football, which a lot of parents seem to think is so dangerous (and I don’t necessarily disagree), but he is not getting one of those moto-bikes. We are going to see a very sad news story someday soon. |
Sadly, I don't see our community's wealthy parents denying their kids these bikes any time soon. They've taken over Arlington and Bethesda--the roads and the sidewalks. It defies common sense. My guess is that any regulations are made at the state level and we have a loophole here. |
| They are in my neighborhood too and I am worried about my daughter riding her normal bike to the pool and back while these e-bike kids will almost certainly bother her. |
| I saw a group of kids on Route 50 a couple weeks ago going 45+ mph doing wheelies and weaving through traffic. They were ahead of me at the light on Glebe and I swear they looked like 14-15 year olds. And the bikes looked more like electric dirt bikes |
| If those are kids/young adults pulling stunts on major highways and freeways, on their dirt bikes, those are typically D.C., kids. Or that was the case a few years ago. Often they were in groups of 20 or more, and they would harrass the motorists and pedestrians. |
What makes you think they were from DC? |
