Is there dating going on at your kid's college?

OP, do you need the birds and the bees talk?

I lost my virginity the 2nd day of college! Wouldn’t change a thing! That’s what happens when you place 1000s of 18-22 year olds in a glorified 4 year sleep away camp.

Not by my kid (at least not that he’s telling me) but 2 of his 3 roommates have girlfriends, also in his friend group. And his best female friend has a girlfriend. Maybe these are the only relationships on the campus? I have no idea.

My son found his girlfriend sophomore year at William & Mary. Dancing at a frat party.

Son at emory met his girlfriend freshman year, graduated and still together. Daughter at penn has a boyfriend. Both kids are social, bright, and like having a stable relationship.

What makes you ask?

My DD is a freshman at W&M and reports no dating in her friend group. They are all smart, cute, funny, and open to dating.

There's lots of same sex dating, but no heterosexual dating.

It’s very nice of those young men to volunteer their time to assist in the local agriculture. Are they also going to help when the crops are ready to be harvested?

Migrant/seasonal workers; long gone before harvest time

Dating is widespread in high school and I have a hard time imagining kids will stop dating suddenly in college. Of course hook ups are common. I remember them well from my day. But from what I’ve seen, dating culture seems stronger in this generation.

People really need to put where they live. I bet there's a lot of dating in the south, for example.

OP, depends on the kid. I think dating/relationships are less widespread than in the 80s and 90s, where it would have been really weird to have never dated in high school and college. But I know a bunch of teens and college kids and some have 90s-style dating and relationships and some seem to be total virgins who don't date at all.

Define dating. I thought parents send their kids to get a degree and succeed. Not go there to look for a mate.
