Patrick

I like the name but I associate it with Irish Catholic heritage, is your family that? Unlike names like Ryan and Sean which are or were popular across the board this is a name I feel is strictly tied to Irish Catholics only

Love it. It was my late DH's name.

Weird if you’re not Irish Catholic, nice if you are.

I like it!

I feel like boys don’t even do nicknames anymore. My 8 year old talks about Joseph, Michael and Edward at school. Like a Thomas the Train lineup.

I find this point of view surprising. There’s definitely an association for me, but it feels like a mainstream name anyone can use.

I know a tween Patrick and an adult Patrick.

Both are always Patrick and are lovely people.

I like it.

I would assume youre Catholic. So just know that will be people’s assumption if you care. Nicknames arent great for a young child. Pat or Paddy.
Or Fat Pat 😕
In my Catholic school, we had 2 teachers named Sister Pat. We called them Fat Pat and Skinny Pat.

Patrick is a very normal name in Scotland. Patrick Henry of “Give me liberty or give me death” had a Scottish father. My Patrick has five younger siblings so everyone assumes he is Irish Catholic, which is actually helpful to him in his chosen profession.

Agree. It’s my son’s middle name and I think it’s a great name choice, OP!
