Anyone else have advice for teen with ocd?

My DD did residential at Rogers on Wisconsin. It was very helpful. She also started an antipsychotic to supplement the SSRI which is pretty common with severe OCD and helped a lot.

Which ssri? I’ve heard one is better than the others for ocd (fluvov?) but our psychiatrist won’t try it next. Instead we have to try Prozac before it. Zoloft is the current and only one we’ve tried but it doesn’t seem to be helping that much.

She tried Zoloft, then Prozac and then Luvox which was the best response. I think Zoloft and Prozac are approved for younger people, so they typically try those first.

Ah that makes sense but I’m so annoyed we can’t go straight to Luvox. Between the tapering down and back up this will set us back at least 6 months

This post has prompted me to finally get over my med aversion and try this (and I’m an adult). I’m just so exhausted all the time by the looping thought spirals and the fear and inertia even with the smallest decisions. Thanks for sharing this and I’m hoping it helps me!

You need to take the DBT therapy as well, it changed our lives.
