Team of 31

Most serious clubs: you don't practice, you don't play. Not sure how you didn't think of that?

At most they have $15,000 in outside costs - league and tournament fees, field rental, player registration, etc. Do you feel like the coach is providing over $80,000 in value?

Spitballing numbers here and this precisely is why USofA is an outright fraud perpetrated to the highest levels of the Ponzi scale.

I was at the Philly soccer convention last January and one of the European presenters told it out loud:

What happens in this country is unacceptable and diametrically opposite of what development stands for and would never be tolerated in their continent. Under any circumstance.

From my immigrant ignorance: is there truly no genuine interest in ending this pay2play thievery and do right by the kids and ultimately by the nation’s representation in the world stage?

I lived in Europe for years and am very interested in how things are done in Europe/South America. I have a player who has been looked at by academies and has potential to progress to the highest level in this country. We obviously have a terrible system here that I hate and there is genuine interest in ending p2p.

But...there is a problem. I have not found a reasonable way to attack p2p without hurting my child's journey...his goal that he is pursing with hard work. My kid won't be a martyr to the cause and this is where these clubs have us by the junk. Do you have a solution to this problem? How about you sacrifice your kid first and become the first outlaw...then we can talk. All of us want to burn this garbage to the ground, but I care more about my kid...don't lecture anyone.

The club is NVU. I’m getting mixed comments here, is 31 crazy high or reasonable for HS boys?

It’s high. MLSNext teams are capped to abt 27-28 carded to the team. So anything over that seems high.

I think your numbers to run a club are not entirely accurate. But either way, what do you propose? Just cheaper rates for players to reflect what you think should be the low cost of coaching and running a club?

The ability to play soccer is simply not a right that anyone is going to bat for.

Money grab for club! They will have 13 seriously mad parents soon.

Doesbt make sense to me at all. Did a coach quit and they are cheaping out on hiring one?

FVU is northern virginia, its very difficult to make the boys high school soccer teams in FCPS. I would assume most are not playing HS soccer.

They said NVU-still in northern VA though.

What happened to the coach for the team that got combined with the other team? I would refuse to pay if you are still making payments. That's the only language these clubs respond to.

Achilles tends to have super high rosters too.

They all have high rosters. There was just a thread on Armöurs U17 and U19 and not getting playing time. Officially, it’s capped 27-28 per team. Although outside of MLSNext/ECNL, not sure why they just make enough teams for everyone
Anonymous
Yes but this NVU team is not MLS NExt, they play in NCSL or EDP league. Those teams have regular rosters because they aren't elite-they are developmental, for play time.

I don’t disagree. Outside of MLSNext/ECNL, playing time for everyone should be maximized and that’s not going to happen with large rosters.

The club is not NVU…

Mclean had 30 player ECNL Rosters, this sounds like a spring team during HS season.

Then why did someone say it was NVU upthread?
