Corporations took away Saturday and Sunday long ago. |
Unless you're an evangelical Christian working in health care. They demand no Sunday working because of their religious beliefs. I know a nurse that will never work a Sunday, so others have to cover that day becasue of her "beliefs" that Sunday is the lord's day. Absurd. |
It was. see Bury the Chains |
| Because it's not about religion, it's about politics and control. |

American Freedom came from the Anti Slavery Movement
So they are just returning to form |
And the abolitionists were fighting against Christians who were using Bible verses to justify slavery. |
Were there ever any Islam abolitionists? Surely someone in Africa had a spine. |
????I understand that Saturday was considered a work day until the late nineteenth century. Think about it. A lot of our economy was rural. All stores were usually closed on Sundays, though. People went to church. https://www.pbs.org/livelyhood/workday/weekend/timeline.html |
That PP is a weirdo spammer who was active on an old thread who believes the world should be dictated by their loor experience with one Muslim boss that they seem to need therapy for. Meanwhile, I can counter with my healthcare sector experience trying to staff a hospital unit on Sundays with Christians who don't want to work. Thank goodness for cultural and religious diversity helping people to take desired days and holidays off while keeping society functioning |
Those same Christians who don’t want to work on Sundays also often don’t want to provide legal and appropriate healthcare to patients that they don’t approve of. |
3 day weekends would solve that problem. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday cover all the Abrahamic religions. Regarding unions and the 2 day weekend, capitalists were convinced that a 40 hour week would result in a bunch of drunken lazy laborers. |
If you’re not a Christian why do you even care if you work Sundays? |
And Enslaving Africans in American colonies was a Christian practice, with Bible verses offered in support. Georgetown University owned slaves. |
